Right I'm having a play with VMWare for backup/restore reasons but I need a little help on the networking setup.

I have:

1 DC with Backup Exec 11D installed
2 VMWare servers where I want to IDR (Restore server from CD + Tape drive)

At the moment our servers have a range of 10.15.0.xxx and my host DC+VM servers have a range of 192.168.0.1 to save any errors while on the network and while I do windows updates etc.

How does the whole networking work if my host address is 192.168.0.0 and guests are 10.15.0.0

Anyone used Backup Execs IDR into a VMWare setup? Whats the best way of restoring a server into VMWare?

Will depend what type of adaptor you give the guest (host, bridged or NAT) which defines how the guests communicate with the host and the hosts subnet. For your setup you want Host or NAT. NAT allows the host to communicate with the 192.168.0.0 subnet via the VMware NAT service running on the host. Host just allows the guest to communicate with the host only
