I've set up a Solaris virtual machine using VMWare Player on my desktop PC.
I'm currently playing around with ZFS mirroring and hot spares. I've added 3 disks to the VM with separate, single VMDK files.
I want to simulate a hardware disk failure to see what happens - in theory ZFS should resilver the contents of the remaining good disk to the spare and nothing untoward should happen.
How can I simulate a disk failure? The vmdk files are locked in Windows so I can't delete one, and Player won't allow me to remove a disk without shutting the VM down which defeats the object to what I'm trying to test.
