How good is hardware acceleration and emulation (If that is rgight with VMWARE?)? ie, if ESXi is bare metal with 3-4 VMs ontop *running 89% as good *bar gaming'>>) then how is running serversm etc ontop of a plastic setup? *ie, Windows 8.1 MAN-IN0T. You should be perfectly fine running Linux installs on Windows 8 Hyper-V as long as you have sufficient resources (vcpu and memory). Windows servers I don't believe will install though.

One thing you will not get is pci-passthrough on a Hyper-v setup, that only works with Xen, Xenserver and ESXi (I'm not sure about GPU passthrough for mining in ESXi though).

It won't be anywhere near as good. VMware uses it's own graphics driver.

I'd fix whatever issue you're having with Windows if you want to do GPU based mining.
