Quick heads-up for people running Linux SMP under VMware: the first release candidate of VMWare Server 2.0 has been released here.

Downloading now, will upgrade from beta 2 and report back :)

Does the previous version expire? I'm on the "if it ain't broke, don't fiddle with it" setting, aka lazy mode. :D

:D

Beta 2? I don't think it expires. I'll see if the new version has any advantages - if not, probably no point upgrading.

Really couldn't get used to the web interface in the betas.

But I'll give it another whirl.

TBH, I'm not too keen on it either. Have to use it because the drivers for 1.0.5 won't install on Vista x64. At least since beta 2 you can open the remote console directly and bypass the web interface. The web interface can also use 100MB of RAM which is a bit annoying.

Yeah got it set up eventually.

Not particulary happy with it, but may as well start getting used to it.

Bleurgh. /throws up

Why oh why did they have to persist with the web access? Though I'll grant it's a small improvement over the early beta I tried.

/throws up some more.

I'll stick with VMWare Server 1.0 until someone gives me a bloody good reason to upgrade, and they haven't done that yet. :)

Still on 1.0.1 for the same reason - Always have down time when I fiddle - always use ubuntu server command line to get info on how client is doing.

Any ppd improvement over 1.0.1 - at just under 11mins per step (2605) rig in sig. Not that I've Fahmon to tell me the ppd anyway ;)

Edit: thanks Mr.B - just what I wanted to know* :D

*started writing this post over 90mins ago - Wife need a spot of support (her best friends unborn is way to small :( )

Well I'm back on 1.0.6 already. v2 kept killing on of my cores for some reason.
