Pretty short thread.

VMworld, end of this month. San francisco. Anyone going?

Will be my first one, wondering if anyone had previous experience.

Dont have the spare $1 Billion im afraid :)

PS: I'm very jealous, a VMWare Polo would be nice ;)

Andy, any chance you can get me over there free of charge as some sort of company expense or something? Ta.

I usually get an 'invite' (a.k.a. marketing email). I'd love a trip to San Francisco but I don't think my employer would pay the expenses. :(

I want to go but I dont think my boss will foot the bill so I'll just have to read the articles that will appear online

Ahar, expense would be the right word :P

My employer would normally pay for this but had a bit of an issue with the travel. Thanks to some really amazing people in the industry I've managed to get there for 'not a lot'.

Looking forward to the sessions as well as the free labs (booked in for optimisation and appspeed) as well as all sorts of sessions (stretched vmotion, vdi on ucs, power cli etc).

Should be good.

Will also be fun to use the dollar rate to finally bag that Tokina 11-16 I'm after (and get a pic of the golden gate bridge ofc).

likewise above, any spare cash will be going on training rather than this sadly :(

I see this as training, it's comparatively cheap, even if paying for everything you can do it on a budget of about £800-£900 + a pass (approx £1200). That's £2000 for a 4 day advanced concepts conference.

VMware install and configure is about £1800 and that's noddy!

The beauty of this isn't just in the sessions, it's with the conversations that will be had with the people that know far more than I do (at the moment that is :D).

That plus there's not much training that I want to go on this year. Got an EMC yearly subscription, will do my VCP4.... CCNP is up to date. Wouldn't mind a course on using Cisco UCS though.

Id like to go to this but i dont think work would be to pleased about the cost of the expenses to get there and back etc....

So, ill have to read about it afterwards i think. :(
