hay all,

I have a family members machine who i have installed free-VNC on to allow remote access as they always need help, however i have been unable to connect as VNC keeps giving the follow error 10053 connection reset by peer, i click to reconnect and the same thing happens again.

Any one got any ideas???

I have connected to this machine before via vnc with out any issues, but not today. HELP!!!!

If you google for 'VNC Error 10053' you'll get loads of result, just filter the ones that sound more specific to your problem. :).

I presume you are running Windows XP Home or Professional with Windows Firewall or SP2 installed.

I believe the trouble lies with the firewall on the computer that are trying to connect to. Make sure that the program is allowed to bypass the firewall and open up the required port. Should be able to find this under the connection settings for the VNC Program.

Also what version of VNC are you using RealVNC, TightVNC etc?

hay, thanks for the replys,

Version is real-vnc

Yes it's xp sp2 on host machine and yes the firewall has been modied to let vnc though. also the is no router on the other end just a dsl modem so no router firewall issue.

I;m using vista ult 32 but i've been connecting to other machine with no issue so can't see this as one.
