VNC Questions

Hi, I'm getting UltraVNC (free one) for my network.

I need to know if i need to let ports through on my router firewall, if the computers are on the inside of my network?

Also, if I want to view a computer from this pc, and control this pc later on, will i need to install VNC server and viewer? or just one?

No need to open ports for internal use, and yes, viewer and server if you want to do both.

Depends on the router, how you have got the settings on the router. Install server to serve & viewer to view(control). If you install server as a service it will run at start up & sit waiting for connections, otherwise you start server when you want to let somebody view/control.

got it working

cant get ultra vnc server running on vista though. (i cant control this vista laptop from my xp desktop)
