Hey,

I have setup VNC on my Mac Mini but its running really slow even via the LAN. I've got no problems running VNC on other machines ruling out any network problems.

Is the standard remote access for OS X any good? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Jon

I would like the gui as I do use my current XP box remotely to work on documents and check email etc.

I've seen some free VNC server programs but am not sure how good they are. I'll have to have a play.

What VNC software are you using? Id recommend RealVNC, there free one is good. Plus if you need security you can just use SSH.

Also what are the specs of both computers?

I'm using the standard OS X remote application setup via the system preferences menu. I've only been using OS X for a week or so.

I've tried remotely accessing the mini via my new laptop and my pc. Both on the network.

For the benefit of anyone else looking at vnc I've managed to get VNC going at a decent speed with OSXvnc (VNC server for Mac OSX) http://www.redstonesoftware.com/VNC.html. Its working a treat and provides some handy options such as port numbering and sharing.

I'm also using Chicken VNC to connect to client machines, also a lovely program. :)

Thanks for you're help.
