Greetings all

I'm switching from Plusnet to Vodfone Fibre 1. Not ideal, but it's the best I can get in our area

Go live date is a couple of weeks from now.

I want to use my Draytek Vigor 2860ac router. I've got the PPPoE username and password from Vodafone support

Has anyone done this before?

I've previously configured this router when I've used other broadband service providers with no problem. I'd just choose PPPoE connection, enter supplied username and password and that was pretty much it

However, in my chat with Vodafone support I received the following:

You just need to keep your Vodafone router as it ( it will remain connected to the Open reach master socket) and then you need to connect your 3rd party router using the LAN/ETHERNET cable.then you need to login into your 3rd party router ( just like the Vodafone router has the admin page at 192.168.1.1), your 3rd party router also has also the admin page the link and the password will be on your router and then when you login into your admin page. you need to enter your PPoE username and password and enter the Vlan id, your vlan id is 101
Rest details: Technical if asked.
VLAN = 101
Gigafast VLAN = 911
VPI input = 0
VCI input = 38
Set Encapsulation/protocol = PPPoA or PPP over ATM
Set Framing/multiplexing = Type in: VC-based or VC-MUX (may have a name of PPPoa VC-MUX in some routers)
Set Modulation = Choose Multimode or Auto Specific modes will be either G.dmt/ITU G992.1 (ADSL1) or ITU G992.5 (ADSL2+)
Set Security/Authentication type = Choose CHAP
Set idle timeout = Set as No or 0
Set MTU size = Type in 1492
Set IP address= Obtain automatically from ISP
Set default gateway= Obtain automatically from ISP

Not sure if I have to do what they've advised with my Draytek router, but I'm no expert

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Treat it as any other provider and setup. Once live just get your username and password from Vodafone live chat and put that into your Draytek.

Good luck with chat, they were a nightmare with me. Asked me daft things like switch it off and on, change cables, etc. I had to REALLY explain I needed to speak to someone who had a clue and the issue wasnt with their router.

To be fair it was sorted shortly after someone who knew what a router was came on to help.
