Hey everybody

Im just wondering how do i get voice to come through my headset when im using mumble, team speak etc. so i want sound via my speakers and voice through my headset. like xbox live. thanks in advance

in teamspeak3 and mumble go to settings > options > playback

Under playback device select your headphones.

make sure windows/games are using your speakers.

so is it not a great idea? sorry im a complete noob when it comes to playing with friends on pc really. Want to get into bc2 more but its easier with voice for team work so really after tips if you guys have some. How do you all do it?

If you reeeaally want to have speakers and headset seperate; then, for the sake of everyone joining the game, use the 'push to talk' option so that everyone doesn't have the hear your entire game over the intercom.

Just get a good pair of stereo headphones and a mic, you can hear voice and the game just fine and your mates won't hear your game sounds when you talk.

And always use push to talk.

Do that and you'll be sorted. And also, positional sound will be much better with good stereo headphones then two desktop speakers. Just play with the comms sound levels so you get a good level of ingame sound and comms sound.

To be fair that really grinds my gears too, even just trying to decipher what someone is saying during their push to talk with explosions or worse ... someone else talking to them through the game via their speakers.

ok so in general it will just annoy people. hmm maybe just headset then!

hmmm supposed I dont have to use them, just thought it would sound clearer for me. Ive only ever played on 360 with a headset so dont know any different.

A set of not-terrible headphones are more than adequate for gaming, you may get slightly better precision on sound sources with speakers or slightly better sound quality overall but being able to chat with your mates (without ****ing them off) is a very good reason to use headphones

well my flatmate has some turtle beach tx11 headphones. Are these decent enough for it yeah? just wanna make sure everything is clear on all sides.

Theyre rated well it seems, basically as long as you arent spending under £25 they should be adequate.

Best approach to make sure its clear:
1- join the voice comms, listen for clarity, if its bad try adjusting some stuff
2- say hello, ask if its clear. if the answer is yes then start shooting some stuff, if not try adjusting other bits and pieces, repeat

PTT is a must. we kick people from our TS if they dont use a PTT key. I dont need to hear you yawn, i dont need to hear you talk to your friend or your family, i dont need to hear your dog, or your game sounds, or your mum telling you to go to bed, set a PTT key :P

This!

I actually find it amusing at times though - there's been some really embarasing moments for some of my friends :P
