Hi there and thanks in advance for advice.

Following an accident my mother is now wheelchair bound and needs voice recognition software installed on her PC.

Tasks are fairly standard word processing, e-mails etc stuff but it does need to let her use the PC in a completely hands free manner.

Running under Vista Home

So anybody got any experience of different software packages and hwihc ones work "well"? I will install it and get it working so not worried particularly about ease of set up but how well it works..

Before you go splashing your cash, have you tried the stuff that's now included in Vista?

Goto Speech Recognition in Accessories/Ease of Access

Thanks for all this, will play with Vista and certainly look at dragon's offering. Anybody with experience of IBM's product?

Ralph

My Mum's workplace (Solicitors) use Dragon and after you've 'tamed' your dragon it really is a great peace of software with a decent microphone.

another one for drangons just make sure you get the prefered edtion, i find that it is very good and the new version is very accurate with a bit of training, tho you do need a could mic, also make sure that it a fast computer e.g 2gb of ram will make everything so much easy, also dragons can be use to control the mouse with your voice

ali

hope tha helps

Are there organisations such as charities or social services that can help? Maybe they can recommend one based on previous experience and may even be able to help towards the cost.

Good luck in your search anyway.
