Been thinking about maybe trying out some software, so what do people think .

Is it worth it?

Whats a good program for it?

any other experiences/comments.

Cheers

Got curious myself few years ago and used dragon took a while to get it used to my voice but it was ok when i did. In the end though i didn't notice much of a speed increase so binned it. Dragon still do programs relatively cheap but have no idea about others.

I'm to paranoid to use Voice Commands & think the FBI & I will hear me. :o

I was trying it mainly for wp'ing but found i relaxed a bit too much and talked too fast lol. I am sure the programs now are a lot better then when i tried them 2003-2004 time.

All voice recognition software is still useless and gimmicky. Windows built-in voice recognition, all 3rd party software (like Dragon), Android, Windows Phone, iPhone ... all useless. All slower than actually typing yourself because anywhere from 10 - 60% of the time it will get it wrong, so you have to go back and correct mistakes.

Dragon is probably the best, atleast a 90% success rate. But still not great. I'd only ever use it if you do a LOT of typing, like writing a book or long essay, and you've injured your hands so cant use a keyboard. Because it's even more useless when trying to use it to navigate in any form.

Checking in 13 years later.

Voice dictation is tables staskes on iOS and Mac, I want something to compete on Windows.

It seems the built in Windows dictation sends the recordings server side, and tbh I don't trust Microsoft these days.

Any good open source or cheap alternatives?
