Can any here help my with voip?

I have a 608wl and have a 2030 phone also. It is recomended that I change my router to a 780 as this has 2 voip ports on the back of it.

The problem is that I am happy with the 620 as it has vpn which works very well.

Is it possible to buy a 'voip port' of some sort or do i need to get rid of my router to use voip?
I have looked on oc shop and all over the web but no-one really knows how to help - i suerly cannot be the first person to need vpn and voip?

The 2030 is a SIP phone and it would help a lot if your router was SIP aware.
The only SIP stuff I see for the 608 is the SIP PBX which appears to be a software add-on and presumably costs lots of money - have you this option enabled?
You'd get the 780 because it is SIP aware. The ports are for connecting standard phone equipment, FXS ports for handsets and FXO to the BT phone line. They will let you use the phones as normal and also to make VOIP calls, but you should be able to use your 2030 with it.

If the only SIP support for the 608 is the PBX option, you can still do VOIP but it will involve port mapping TCP and UDP 5060 and whatever range of UDP ports used by voice/control to your 2030 IP address. You could use STUN (setting on the 2030) to avoid using an outbound proxy but most VOIP providers have FAQs and setups that you could use to guide you.
It's fairly simple, unless you want to connect a second phone and that will need to be configured to use a different SIP port than 5060 and use a different voice channel range.
