looking at getting a VOIP wireless phone for me and one for the girlfirend as we talk too much and its costing me £100+ p/m.

What i would like is some advice on how to go about doing everything for this.

first i guess i need to know what software to use. I have a router but this is downstairs in mums office so can't put a wireless phone straight into that, and also can't have a wireless hub bit as the router is not wireless (hope that made sense).

secondly would be waht phones to get. im after wireless phones but doesnt have to be wireless hub bi where it would plug into. Would be good if the phone just recharges on the hub and not uses batteries. The computer is always on when im home as thats all i use when im here so not a problem about the cmoputer needed to be on to use the phone. No screen is really nessesary on the phones either as we will both know when the other is calling and only recieve calls from each other so its not like we need to know who it is who is calling.

Think that is bascially everything. Just what software if at all and what phones to get as a pair.

also just make sure, so this will be compltetely free using something like skype as its like peer to peer.

with regards to software i suggest SKYPE. Just becasue i have used it b4 and its used by many people around the world. I would also suggest that you get a bluetooth headset and route all the calls trough the pc to the headset. THis would save you having to get new voip phone handsets. This will eliminate the stress of searching for handsets.

First you can axe your telephone charges immediately making them quite insignificant by using one of Finarea's companies ie
http://www.call1899.co.uk/index2.php
Get a voip router with quality of Service giving preference to voip over downloads etc and plug a normal Dec phone and base unit into that giving one house roaming. One can plug yer normal telephones in too.
I prefer to use the power sockets in preference to wireless.
Naturally the computer does not have to be "On" in order to receive and make calls
I use a Fritzbox Fon bought on ebay for around £32.
I use
www.internetcalls.com
with free Uk calls and most mainline countries - thats them that don't want payin to receive the incoming calls like so many 3rd world countries do. One must pay around £8.50 which must be used in 4 months on 0845 and mobile numbers as otherwise its difficult to spend. I also received a normal UK telephone number 0116. Oh! one is only allowed 5 hours of free calls a week then one must pay big - like 1 p a minute
Much better than using the computer and the handsets plugged into that. Skyp is expensive!!

this doesn't sound at all what i want as i'd have to plug loads of things into places im not allowed to go, well im allowed to go but my mum owuldn't trust me when altering anything with the network.

also its not my landline prices that were high, it was my mobile charges that i want to decrease.

ok so its decided we'll use skype then, but what phones?

I am looking but only finding wireless VOIP phones for around £50 each.

im looking for a pair but obvioualy if i can't buy 2 in one set ill just buy 1 phone twice. can anoyone reccomend me a good wireless VOIP phone. Would need a stand that plugs in preferably via usb and isn't battery powered, and also resable range from the dock place, e.g. more then 10m

thahnska gain all for the help so far, keep it coming
