VOIP - Maximum clients per channel before it gets silly?

What is the cut off before it all just becomes a load of people trying to shout over each other

Depends a lot on the game, I've been in fleets in eve online with 100s in the channel and most of the time its orderly but I've been in channels with only 12-15 people in other games and its been chaos.

40man raiding in vanilla WoW, it got pretty hectic. With some rules though it was managed.
