Hi there,

I am looking for a VOIP phone system with 3 handsets and to transfer my current number from BT. The internet is with another provider anyway and doesn't use the landline.

I hear ring central are very good but they want £300+ for the 3 handsets as well as a different user license for each handset. Don't need different users as such just wanted the phone spread out the house/home office.

Nextiva also seem very good and aren't as expensive, can anyone recommend the guys at Nextiva?

A company that appear to give the handsets for free is aerial direct but the reviews are awful?

Thanks

I asked the same thing on this forum.

I was advised to get a Cisco ATA 191 and go with Sipgate, using my old phones.

I bought the Cisco from some shop or other for about £70 and the Sipgate is free. Popped £10 credit on that and an auto debit when it gets low. I believe they charge about £80 to transfer your number but I just chose a new one. All works extremely well using my old BT phones. I also bought a box off ebay to convert my 1940's type 200 phones to work with the system. Very happy! Also, very cheap.

Last time I did it, it was £29 for Sipgate to port a number in. Sipgate are good, I have zero grumbles about them.

In terms of equipment, you could use an ATA such as the Cisco 191 as previously mentioned. I'm using a Grandstream HT801 as it's USB powered which meant I could power it from my PoE switch. Another option is to buy a SIP handset. I would have done that if I needed new phones at the time my number was ported.

I would use sipgate - had it for decades. I used to use a grandstream HT401, but switched to using our mobiles running sipnetic

Unity World are pretty good. They do the license and handsets for only £9.50 a piece. only a fiver to port over a number so long as it is geographic.

Voipfone and a few SNOM's was my chosen route, cheap to port out/in, call charges are minimal and it's pretty reliable except when being DDoS'd.

Or.....
Speak to me?
