Volt modding LED fans?

Hey all

Just ordered up a Seasonic S12 430w, and just noticed it has a 4pin molex to 3x 3pin fan adapter. One of these is a full 12v, but the others lower the voltage to 7w.

My question is whether this would be ok on some akasa cystal led fans? I've read once that lighted fans dont like voltages messed around with.

if you volt mod the fan the LEDs will dim

I suppose thats good in theory.. the reason i'm lowering the voltage is so i can sleep at night with it on.. and if the leds are dimmer then thats even better
