I bought one of these http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp...1&template=pp4_1_1&zone=pp&lm=pp4_1&pid=10394
The Sony Ericsson Headset HBH-DS970.

But i bought it from abroad, china/japan i think (it was a while ago and i'm at work). And foolishly i did not think about the voltage difference. So i need to charge it, but i am unsure, if i just get a travel adaptor for the socket will it still charge ok, considering that the voltage will be different in the uk?

Or will it blow up in a tremendous display of burning plastic?

If it won't work it's still possible to get something to plug in and change the voltage i believe? But i know very little about these.

Many Thanks.

You cannot plug in a 110V adapter in the UK as it is designed to run on 110V so you need some sort of convertor to change the 230V to 110V which could be costly.

Half right, I find most modern appliances are rated 100v-230v. In which case all you have to do is cut the plug of and attach a uk one.

On the back it usually gives amps and voltage range(usually in white on the back of the charger, if you can find it take a pic).

Check to see if there is a slider on the base unit to change the voltage, i.e. PC PSU's have them, little red sliders that you can move from 110 to 240.

If not then ebay it.

you might be lucky the the power supply is auto switching and can handle 110v and 240v but you'll have to have a read on the side of it. My SE phone charger is auto switching so you should be in luck.

Hello again, I've had a shufti at the plug and on the back it says input: 100-240 VAC~100mA, 50-60hz.

I presume this means it can take anything from 100-240 volts.

So i just need to get me a chinese - english converter, or will any 2 plug converter work?

yep it can run on an English supply. You'll eitehr need a chinese adapter or a multi region two pin adapter. Should get one for around £3 at your local electronics store.
