using the motherboard in my sig, there is no power offset mode.

basically i can run a 4.5gig oc on auto at 1.376 volts which goes down to about 1.00v at idle.

or i can run 4.5 on manual at 1.265 volts but although the clocks ramp down, the voltage doesnt at idle.

what should i do?

I'd go with 1.265 manual. The extra v at idle won't do any harm and won't £cost much leccy either. Under load, the extra v if on auto means a lot more leccy and heat.

It's better to keep it lower overall rather than when it's just idle.

So manual is always best for overclocking over auto.
