Gather round for my Ebay tale of woe.

I recently sold a Sapphire 6950 and the buyer has now asked to return it, claiming the voltage 'drops too low' when monitored through MSI Afterburner. I used the card for two years and never had a stability problem when gaming, etc, so I suspect he simply isn't happy with its overclocking performance. I never tried to overclock it and didn't check the voltages before selling.

Should the voltage on a card be steady under load? If I have sold on a sub-standard card, I'll take it back, but if it isn't a real problem I will advise him to sell it to someone else if he isn't happy.

Well, I'm currently running an XFX 6950 (softmodded to 6970). It's mining at moment, so running at 100% with voltage steady at 1.150V (for the last few minutes anyway, as I switched on Afterburner's voltage monitor when I read your post!)
