My 7900GT won't load all the way to windows, it freezes up just before the desktop should appear.
tried another card 6800GT & it loads straight into windows XP so no other error
seems apparent.

checked the voltage in bios & the 12& 5v rails are spot on but the 3.3 which I think is for the graphics shows 2.8. Could this be the cause of failure ?

Dont think theres much difference between 7900gt/6800gt in power consumption.
Showing 2.8 could be wrong + I thought that was the mobo battery?
Deffo a good 12v rail is needed for the graphics card, my 8800gtx drops to 11.3v in 3D & runs ok.
What PSU are you running?
Can you try the 7900gt in another PC?

voltage is now showing correct, its the 5.5v which is for graphics I now discover, our other PC is PCI express so can't test it:mad:
power supply is Tagan 480
