Voltage Issues with new HTPC

So I've decided to upgrade my HTPC in order to install Vista and use it's MC capabilities. I've used my case, which is the Silverstone LC11 and replaced all the rest.

As the case dictates the location of the PCI-E slot I was limited to Matx boards and due to the riser card I needed a PCI slot to be right next to the PCI-E one. which limited my choice of boards even more. I've opted for the Asus P5B-VM. The rest of the upgrade included a new HDD (seagate 7200.10), cpu (E6300), ram (Geil 2GB) and GPU (7300GT). I've re-used the DVDRW, sound card and tuner card from the old setup.

So I've installed everything in, sorted out the wiring nicely, powered up and installed the OS. So far, so good.

I left the system working for couple of days, all well, than closed it and put it aside. Yesterday I've decided to install it in place. I've sorted space on my rack, connected all the cables and powered up. This time I had post errors like "USB overvoltage" or "Ocerclocking something...". It than shuts itself down.

OK, no panic... I took the system off the rack, opened it up, power up and all is working well. Tried few logs, changed voltage on the bios for the ram, power up and all is well. Again, placed back in rack - fails again!

This time I've loaded the bios defaults, again powered up, no probs. I've closed the lid again, turned it over this time and still it would work well, however when I rebooted it failed with the same error!!

I suspected something is shortening the case, so I put something soft between the lid and the top card, which is the GPU. No change - when open it works well, when closed and in the rack it fails.

Now it's temp time - installed speedfan and checked the settings. The system ran hot, with the CPU at 70C, and AUX was at 122C(!). I've googled the AUX setting and found that many have reported such temp, but without major problems. There are 2 fans working in the case, the cpu has a zalman cooler, so nothing here is out of the ordinary.

I'm about to give up and replace the mobo (p5b-vm BTW), but again I'm limited for choice. Anyone has any insight for me?

Cheers,

NC.
