Hi there everyone, just wanted to ask about memory voltages, as I'm worried about rumours that memory voltages above 1.5v will kill sandybridge processors. I know that memory is recommended to be run at 1.5v in a sandybridge system, but I did a little googling and many people seemed to be very happy running such a system with the corsair XMS3 RAM, which is listed as running at 1.65V. So, should I lower the voltages manually in BIOS? or just slot the RAM in and let it run without any alteration? I have very little knowledge about overclocking RAM or changing voltages, so a little guidance (if needed) would be great. Also, will XMP force the ram to run at 1.65v? Thanks :D

With Sandybridge the lower the RAM voltage the better.

There are plenty of people running XMS3 at around 1.5V.

I would try lowering it in the BIOS.

As above - i've set up 3 machines (including my own using a MSI p67a-c45) with XMS3 memory and with each initial setup I set the voltage at 1.5v and have had no issues.

XMP will/usually force the memory to run at 1.65 - ideally set the timing and voltage manually.
