Volume output really loud!

After installing a program called 3RVX and changing its skin my volume out has become really loud (I think it has doubled). I have uninstalled the program but is there any way of reducing my volume output levels. I mean, when the little slider in the system tray is on 50% it is what 100% was before I installed 3RVX.

Any suggestions?

Not had any experience with the program but if it were me I would do the following:

Check the sound device properties, make sure no "enhancements" have been put on
Re-install the program, set volume to 0 and then uninstall it again, restart and see if it helps
Uninstall and re-install sound drivers

Are you listening through headphones or is there sound distortion?
