I took out my 1989 480 today! Now, im biased cause i bought one, but i really didnt expect to be as pleased as i was after driving it tonight! I went to meet my mates as i always do in a local car park to talk cars. (Its just a small meet with people i know, not a chav fest)
I managed G-metered 8.17 to 60, and fell in love with the positive handling of the car. Im sat here itching to drive it more. I never thought a car that cost less than 500quid could be so inspiring and encouraging to drive. The auto box shifts manually beautifully, much better than my BM ever did. It handles like a dream, kinda reminds me of the sure footed, stuck like glue ride of my lowered mini van.
When the turbo spools up and brings in the power its so smooth and confidence building.
I took out a mate who owns a heavily modified 220 turbo coupe, hes already asked to buy it off me as his run-about
Hes now decided to buy one, along with 2 other under 20's who i took out for a quick drive.
I know i always rave about my cars, but this has really left me with a big imprint. Maybe its because i know he only cost 411quid? Maybe because i came from the boat 525i, but BOY do i love this car. Enough to make me want to keep it after selling the BM? Perhaps
