So my 2001 Volvo V70 needs something other than CD.

In another thread someone suggested the following:

USA Spec PA-11 - I need to investigate more - any advice? Where can I buy it?
IMIV - Not selling atm the mo very annoyingly.
Grom Audio - Doesn't seem to support the HU-603

So, who's done this and do they have any hints or tips?

I looked into the different options and in the end went for an FM transmitter. The sound quality is not as good which is a pain, but all other options seemed expensive and hard work.

I will however watch this thread with interest as I would really like a permanent integration between the HU-650 and Ipad.

The main reason I want it is for the steering wheel controls and seeing the track name in the HU. The bluetooth hands free also seems to be a useful option.

Do you know how well it works?

All I know is a lot of the Honda Accord owners on THAOC use them and they say they work fine, the steering controls all work fine, the head unit just thinks its a CD player. I'm thinking of getting one for my car but i'm also considering an FM transmittor as i'm not 100% sure I can be bothered with fitting and the cost as it will be close to £100 for my car

If I do go wired i'll go for the X-carlink though

I won't use fm transmitters again. for me the audio quality isn't good enough. I want a stealthy installation that lets me use the steering wheel controls too.

I got mine direct from here:

Although as mentioned, you can't get the ipod version as they are in the process of becoming apple certified or whatever. I belive you can still buy the regular rca/auxiliary model for phones/mp3 players
