Vostro freezing and slow boot up

If it is a physical HDD problem, then Dell would replace it for free as it should be covered by at least their base 12 month warranty.
 
Normally when I've seen them, atapi and disk errors have been indicative of a faulty hard disk.

I would personally run chkdsk /f from the command prompt (you will need to reboot in order for it to run) to rule a file system issue out as being the problem.
