OK, me and a few friends are trying to get a VPN going with me as the server to play private games. I am using Microsofts VPN server and client.

Problem is we can all ping one another and see and chat in the game room but 5 seconds till gameplay everyone appears to be booted. Setup is as follows:

Ports opened for VPN:
TCP 1723
UDP 500
UDP 4500 - 4500

No firewalls except hardware firewalls (mine opened as per above)

Any advice from those that may have done similar to the above before?

Thanks!

Assuming your running 2003 and Routing and Remote Access...

Have you checked the error logs on the server for indications of the disconnection?

Does it just throw them out the game or are the booted off the pptp link?

Nope, just Windows XP Home Edition and opened up my hardware firewall ports. It only throws them out the "game room", the VPN link stays up and we can still ping one another. I have heard of Himatchi being a good option. Any good VPN software you have used (sounds as though you have set up VPN before so it would be good to hear you reccomendation).

Reason why I'd like this is because of convenience really, the fact it is secure also and all the other stuff you can do with it as though you were inside the network (like remote file and printer sharing).

Thanks for the reply!
