VPN Connection.

Hi guys,

My laptop has 1 Wireless card, I use this card for connecting to my WLAN to access the internet and network. I'm trying to connect to a VPN, but upon connecting to the VPN I loose my connection to my WLAN.

Is it possible to have 2 connections open at the same time, on the same adapter? i.e. to be connected to my WLAN / router, and to the VPN?

Using Vista.

Cheers

I can't remember exactly where it is off the top of my head, but under the advanced settings in the VPN connection there may be a checkbox labelled 'Use Default Gateway on Remote Network' or something similar - you need to make sure this is unchecked otherwise you'll be trying to route all traffic over the VPN connection rather than just stuff meant for that network.

Thanks for the reply Louis :)

I've got it working now.

Does anyone know where I can get a guide on advanced VPN connections? I've searched google a bit and all I can find are basic guides.

What I want to be able to do, if possible, is set up something like this;

I'd like to connect to the VPN, and if possible have all the computers at the location of the VPN server + the remote computers connecting to the VPN - all these computers to show up in Network / network places - for easy access. If this is possible.

Also, the computers connecting to the VPN, once they are connected they are using the IP address of the internet connecting that the VPN server is hosted on when browsing the web, is it possible to use their own internet connection / IP address, but still be connected to the VPN ?

I've got the VPN server access, so can change anything server side if needed.

sorry for the wall of text ;P

I've set up the VPN, and it's all working good.

I do have a question however,

Is it possible to not have your internet traffic filtered through the network at the remote location. I'd like to be able to use my own internet connection as it is a lot faster than having the traffic uploaded to me by the remote VPN.

Is there any options I can change on my VPN server at home, so that when connecting to my network from remote locations, I only have access to the shares / computers, but do not use my home internet routed to me.
