I'm due to move to Canada for a few years, and looking to set the home network up in such a way that will allow us to use some UK sites.
I have a VPN which I currently use in the UK for accessing American sites, so will plan on turning that around to look this way, but will probably still need to access the US sites from some devices.
I think the best way of going about this would be to have a DD-WRT router set up on a UK VPN connection, with an access point, so at any time the missus can connect to that. There will also be a router provided by the ISP which I plan to leave as standard on the Canadian network.
Would it be most sensible to have the ISP router as DHCP on a limited subnet (192.168.1.0/255.255.255.128) and the DD-WRT router as DHCP on a different subnet (192.168.1.128/255.255.255.128) for example?
I currently have a RaspberryPi and my server running on the US VPN, I'd intend to connect these to the ISP router.
So, general surfing (kids tablets, phones etc) to be done through the ISP router. Stuff that requires US access done through the US router with a "local" VPN installed. Stuff that requires UK access will connect to the DD-WRT router, this will be connected to the ISP router with an ethernet cable.
Sensible?
