Hey Guys,

I'm not very good with this type of problem so i have come to you for your wonderful guidence.

Our company are looking at being able to use a certain program at home which will connect to out database at work.

We have been using remote desktop clients such as logmein but are looking for a faster and more effective solution.

Didn't know if there was a way to have the program installed on a pc away from the network which then had access to the database on the network and work suffiecently.

Cheers guys.
Nick

Firewall and and remote access VPN seems the most secure way of doing things, do that sort of thing all the time for customers (Firewall/Security engineer).

As ever this boils down to budget and capability;
Do you have a budget?
And would you feel comfortable configuring a Firewall, or would you need an external firm to do the work for you?

Budget can range from free, a Linux openvpn type solution to a Checkpoint FW1 solution north of £50k. Between £500-2k you'd be looking at Cisco (ASA's), Juniper (SSG's) or Sonicwall's.
Assuming your comfortable with Linux or using open source software OpenVPN can be done for free.
