Hi,

I have just signed up with a VPN provider and am having problems gettin the VPN connection running on Win 7 (64bit).

I have followed the setup instructions and on clicking connect for the VPN connection I get the connection to XXXX using PPTP, then it asks for the username and password again saying it could not log me in with supplied credentials.

I have turned off my firewall (Norton 360 v3) and put the machine in the DMZ for my router. No change.

I have also setup the connection on my netbook (Win XP 32bit) with the same results.

I can ping their server(s).

The service providers (lamnia) have told me the password is correct.

Recommendations for tools to check connectivity, decoding the RAS logs or alternative RAS clients ?.

I still suspect it is a password issue but need to check everything whilst waiting for a reply from the providers.

Thanks
RB

Well in my experience if the VPN connection re-prompts you straight away then its usually some kind of authentication issue.

Id wait till theyve double checked your details and if it still doesnt work they should be able to check logs to see if they can see your authentication attempts.

Thanks guys,

After sending a chaseup they finally replied mentioning about over complicating things and going back to the íts your router / firewall / ISP.

They did setup a new account which I tested adn it worked first time.......

With the information I had given them, they should have got a basic idea that I do know something about the subject rather than trotting out the standard 'sort it out yourself, not our problem' line.

Thanks again guys.

Shot in the dark but I had a similar issue on a Mac which was cured by setting IPv6 to off in advanced settings. May or may not be any help on windows.
