Hi,

Im looking for some recommendations for a VPN provider. My current subscription to CyberGhost expires next month and while ive had no major problems with it over the last few years, I'm wondering if there are better options in terms of features, imact on download speeds, etc.

Be interested to hear what peoples opinions are on the better VPNs to use.

Thanks

No good just asking for a VPN Provider, people need to know what your going to be using it for as they are all different.

The main things will be streaming like Netflix from different countries, and a few Kodi builds for US Sports on my Nvidia Shield. I have a 200mb virgin connection so one which takes advantage of as much of this as possible. Also Android/IOS apps for my Nvidia Shield & Apple TV. (although they will all have IOS/Android support I guess so no issue there)

I was going to suggest Cyberghost and then saw your post :)
I had it a month ago and I can't complain at the speeds.
I've used cheap inferior ones for years so I'm amazed at Cyberghost, 39 months for around £45

ProtonVPN

I love Proton as a company but I struggle to pass 550Mbps with them (Windows, macOS and Linux), as they only offer IPSEC and OpenVPN. Once they roll out WireGuard they should be amongst the crème de la crème.

Mullvad, OVPN, AzireVPN and the more 'usual' privacy focused ultra fast VPN providers struggle with the likes of Netflix and Amazon, or don't bother to even try bypassing them at all.

Stick to NordVPN or Private Internet Access via Quidco. With cashback you can get them for almost free (works on renewals too). Nord works with basically any streaming service, and PIA have a 'streaming server' in London that works with iPlayer et al. Both offer WireGuard (NordVPN call it 'NordLynx' because they want to be different), but neither allows you to manually configure the connection, it's all in-app.

Private internet access for me, rock solid and the app is ace, lots of options and easy to use. You can request port forwarding too, epic option if you use torrents.

Remember some VPN companies are under the same umbrella e.g. Nord, Atlas ans Surfshark share the same parent company.

That may impact how different they really are if sharing resources and staff.
