Hi,

I am looking to set up a VPN connection for a local small business.

They want o be able to access their sage accounts etc from home and so said VPN was the way forward. They use go to my pc, but this we are finding not very successfull.

I have never done a VPN link before. What steps do I need to take?

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Ideally, I do not want to install software on a server etc.

Basically allow the VPN via a router. Which routers can this be done on?

Thanks

What about trying out 'Untangle Server', from when I had a play with it I seem to remember a VPN Option available - not sure if its free or not though.

If you don't want to stump up for a cisco SOHO router (or don't have the knowledge of IOS), then you could also look at Draytek, nice and simple routers that are managed through HTTP.

I personally use a Cisco 877m, but the Drayteks are fine for basic VPNs.

This is of course assuming that they don't have a Server 2000/2003/2008 SBS/Standard box to hand. If they are already using Server 2000/2003/2008, then look at routing and remote access (inbuilt to the OS).
