VPN via Draytek routers

Hi guys,

I'm trying to set up a site-to-site VPN link between a Draytek 2800 and a Draytek 2820, I have set up the VPN details as per usual but when I try pinging the external IP addresses from one router to the other and vice versa I get "Request Timed Out" consistently.

Both are configured with static external IP addresses. I have got both router config pages open on my browser so they are both connected to the net.

Any ideas?

If you have a site to site set up correctly, you should be able to pink the internal IP of the remote network, remebering both networks need to be on a different subnet.

I seem to remeber one needs to be set to dial, the other to recive

Have a read through this and see if you've missed any steps out:

That is a guide for PPTP tunnels between two Vigors, ideally you should use IPSEC but if you can get it working with just PPTP that might be a good starting point.

Hi guys, finally got it working on Ipsec... I started from scratch on the VPN set up and it magically linked the two sites.
