I figured it's about time I finally get a VPN, I have a suspicion all the comparison articles/sites are paid/sponsored so wondering what you actual real people recommend?

Figured I'd update this.

I decided I didn't have any need for a VPN following contacting my ISP(Zen Internet) and enquiring what data they log for a customer's connection:

Reply:

"We don't log internet browsing history but your web browser should. Regarding your connection we do log the connection usage.

The Usage information we detail within our customer portal is for all data that is Downloaded and Uploaded through your Internet connection. We do not specify any specific data such as Video Streaming, Online Gaming or perhaps even Online shopping. As we do not log specific Internet usage as this would be against privacy law."

As far as I can tell from that internet usage is only tracked and logged for the Investigatory Powers Bill if the ISP is specifically instructed to do so per connection for investigation purposes?
