VPNs

I use unblock-us and have been for the past couple of years. I use it to access Netflix US and it's never skipped a beat once. I'm also using it to access WWE Network.

You won't go wrong with PIA. Don't forget the SOCKS5 proxy as well, which is handy as a backup/safety net in your torrent app. If you grab Proxifier you can set that to proxy your browser for a given list of sites. Say if a certain site was blocked by your ISP, you can tell Proxifier to route any requests for those URLs through your proxy and leave the rest of your traffic untouched...

PIA have decent bandwidth and are OK. They're one of the few companies who genuinely don't log and they're run by a privacy advocate. They're also one of the few companies whose bandwidth can saturate my 120/12 line. Play around with their app if you're running OpenVPN. If you have a slower computer you might find blowfish encryption gives you a better speed than AES128/256.

Appreciate the reply, thank you.

Sorry i think i might have miss guided you a little. I have no idea what im doing with VPN's :D

I basically want to use them to bypass content filters and provide some anonymity while browsing.

All i've done is installed OpenVPN and used the config files PIA told me to use and it works. But certain things are not connecting, like computer game clients are not connecting. So i'm guessing i haven't set things up correctly.

Here are some important uses of VPN:

1) Use Public or Hotel wi-fi securely:
Public wi-fi offers no encryption security to its users, and your signals are broadcast for anyone savvy enough to eavesdrop, therefore some people use VPNs at Wi-Fi hotspots to prevent snoopers from collecting private information. Generally, the most effective way to keep your data from entering the wrong hands is by using a VPN service which makes all Internet use totally private and secure.

2) Secure Communication Between Sites:
Many businesses today have branch offices, and connect these branches to the main office over the Internet using a site-to-site VPN connection. For example, a businesses can enable workers with laptops on the road or at home to connect to the company network as if they were sat at a desk in the office. A company that has offices in two locations can connect them using a VPN across the internet so there appears to be one network. Linking remote sites with a main office lets users send and receive information via a secure connection. Employees can use file servers and printers which are not physically in the same office.

3) Bypass the Web Censorship and Content Surveillance:
Some countries put up firewalls to restrict what their residents see, hear, and share with other people within and beyond their borders. Connecting to a VPN server will enable you to 'tunnel out' of the censorship restrictions and access the full World Wide Web.

4) Access to the restricted contents:
By using a VPN service, you can manipulate your machine's IP address to specific location like US, therein you can unlock access to Netflix and Streaming Content from Outside the USA.

There are many VPN providers offering all kinds of VPN protocols like PPTP,L2TP,SSTP or OpenVPN that you can easily find the reliable one if you google for it.

I am with VYPERVPN - can chat in priv about it more - I can do client openvpn and 2 client ipsec or pptp on my Router. I can even run a VPN server but all new here to this.

I plan on running all my net through a EU VPN for security maybe but I;d like mobile devices to VPN to my house so all my stuff is LANed

and I can open a US one or summit for Netflix.

Be very careful of VyprVPN as although they don't make it prominent they DO keep logs, and have no hesitation in identifying you to third parties who ask. For example copyright trolls looking to send you speculative invoices.... Save some money and switch to a supplier who takes your privacy seriously. Just my .02 :)

Dude thanks for that reply: I am looking for a good News server. Normally 7 dollah but Virin I was getting 3mB/s and DemonNews a lot of files were corrupt, I read throttling and SSL+altport is needed. Giganews seemed about the best then I wanted unlimted and 30USD > 16USD offer which I dunno if I got. PLUS free trail I did.

But the extrs it comes with MIMO browser (niot tried that)
Dump truck 30GB (compare to 50GB DROPBOX as that's free with SAMSUNG)
VPN worth a play with.

Thing is: can you get an IP and whois it for a return of an IP that's eduy or somethng

Can I join a VPN and my mate putting us on the same LAN but false?
So I connect to my net, but inside is VPN filling up all of the ports? For commerical vpns 102 pcs or whole router (commerical vpn / vyper)?? so I join via router client THEN host one so I get another network or my mob and VPN that (Asus routers own)

So if thats a VPN what about a PROXY!! - isn't that more of a "don't get google_logo.bmp from google.com because SEAGATE80 has sane stuff but 0.2ms trip and not 8ms)?
