VPN's

I would like to be able to watch US versions of subscription-based streaming services as more series' are available in some cases.

If I find a VPN provider who I can pay month-by-month do I have to download something to each device I want to use with the VPN? I have a TV which can go on the internet but not sure I can visit an App Store to search for and D/L specific App's.

Do you know of any providers who allow month-by-month payment instead of paying for the whole year upfront? Do VPN's slow down a connection?

i have express vpn and pay monthly, their desktop app lets you do a per app basis. one way to use a vpn on certain devices would be to use a old router and put the settings in to make it router level vpn or maybe invest in a cheap portable router. I dont find mine slows down if I use the same country but sometimes if I use one further away from me I might get a bit more latency
