Hi all,
Just been rebuilding/upgrading my system and seem to be having problems when in games like left for dead and far cry2 etc. When in game I can be playing for 3mins - 30mins then it either crashes to desktop with vpu recover thingy coming up or my system just locks and sometimes restarts. I'm thinking this is probably because im playing with a single asus hd4850 512mb on a 24inch monitor res 1920x1200?? and maybe because im trying to run high res/settings with only 3.2gb of ram on windows xp pro 32bit?
I am using asus latest gpu drivers over ati's ones because it seems to have helped a lot....
here is my spec if anyone could point out why this might be happening.

Asus p5q pro motherboard
E6750 intel core 2 duo @3.4ghz, cooler = Golden Orb2
OCZ 4GB PC2-8500C5 1066MHz (adding 4gb more ram when upgrading to vista 64bit)
OCZ 1000w psu
Asus HD 4850 512mb, cooler = duorb (Going crossfire soon)
Dell 24inch monitor
Antec 900 case + 2 extra fans for gpu cooling
Windows xp pro 32bit (upgrading to vista 64bit soon)

Temps: idle max
cpu(cores) 30c 47c
gpu 31c 60c
system 24c 30c

Could be either of:

Driver/software
Not enough power
High Temperatures

Your temps look OK, so that leaves drivers or power. Your PSU is fine (provided all connections are good), so that leaves drivers. Sounds like you've been swapping drivers perhaps? Maybe using Driver Cleaner to remove all traces of a previous install and re-installing the driver set might help.

I have tryed different gpu drivers and checked i have latest bios.

Can you be more specific when you say could be not enough power, I have a 1000w psu so im assuming to mean adjusting a voltage in bios to something?

I have been monitoring temps closely with various programs in games and out and all seems to be fine there.

I find it strange that when I use asus gpu drivers i can play the games for a lot longer than with the newer ati drivers..can u surgest a good free driver cleaner program? thankyou
and would you recommend using asus drivers as its a asus card or ati?

Ok i just uninstalled drivers, safebooted then used driversweeper and reinstalled latest asus gpu drivers and tryed playing L4D with fps and temp monitoring and game crashed to desktop after about 10mins temps seemed fine on everything fps barely went below 60 so im baffled:confused:

It normally happens when a lot of things are going on in the game im wondering if my computer runs out of memory and stops the game.Im playing at 1920x1200 res all high recommended settings! Or is this very unlikely the cause?

could this be bad ram even tho all i get is crashes and no blue screen of death? any1???
