Hi, i was looking into getting a new laptop for some mid range gaming but then the VR bug bit me.
So now i am trying to find a laptop that could run a oculus rift well but is also fairly light/slim.
I want to use it for normal/sit down gaming in one room but be able to take it to another room where i can have the VR set up with room scale etc.

I've been considering the MSI Stealth Pro 15in, i7-7700, 16gb, GTX 1060, as its very light and states its VR ready.

However after reading posts here, i am not sure whether to trust MSI as a brand and whether to try and get a 1070 card laptop instead?

Budget is around £1500 but may stretch a little further.
I would appreciate your thoughts/suggestions?

Hi xtrip86,

Bang on budget, and with GTX1070 - we have THIS - P57X - 17.3" FHD IPS/ i7-7700HQ/ GTX 1070 8GB/ DDR4 8GB*2/ 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD + 1TB HDD 7200rpm/ DVD/ Win10/ 2yrs @ £1,499 - stock landing tomorrow.

FYI - the chassis height is 28.6mm (with lid closed) - so although not the slimmest chassis, it does come with Optical Drive that is swappable with caddy (supplied FOC) to take either SSD (upto 512GB) or HDD (upto 2TB), so great expansion possibilities with that feature.

If however the most important factor to you is slim Chassis, you should also consider the AERO15W range. With GTX1060, VR ready, 8-10 hour battery life, but stretching the budget:

Along the same lines, we have a 14" version of that product, a tad nearer to your target of £1,500 - AERO14W range.

Hope that helps, any further questions, please let us know.

Regards,

Gigabyte UK NB Team
