I bought myself a Rift and it should be here within a week or so and was wondering if anyone could suggest some VR showcases with a WOW factor, I remember seeing showcases like watching a big Star Wars AT-AT walking by etc... any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Maybe not a wow factor but always gets a good reception from anyone I show is google earth vr.

The First Contact demo that runs when setting up your Rift is a great showcase to introduce people to VR (and the Touch controllers), as well as Dreamdeck (the original demo with scenes like the t-rex). For anyone who hasn't tried VR, the wow factor should be more than enough even though there's nothing as big as an AT-AT (which you're probably thinking of from the title screen of the PSVR Battlefront experience).

From another thread, I suggested Henry, Lost, Dear Angelica, The Rose and I, Abe, Allumette, Invasion, Surge, and Senza Peso, all of which are free on the Oculus store.

No it was a standalone few hundred meg sized little demo around the time the DK2 came out, Thanks for the suggestions :)

The old staples like The Lab and TheBlu are generally good starting showcases in my experience, followed by Tilt Brush for the more creative types, pCars for racing fans, IL-2 for flight sim fans.

I would also recommend Google Earth VR, but I had at least one person feel ill with that.

the intro to robo recall.

This is going to sound ridiculous, but Eleven Table Tennis on steam - get a ball and roll it around on the paddle and you will be questioning reality in no time. Aside from that it's probably the most realistic table tennis simulator ever (by virtue of being the first game to have both good physics [unlike rec room {hello Angus Higgins}] and hand tracking) and good for a quick game against an AI without having to find someone with the right skill level or lean over and pick up balls all the time.

Show them Oculus Dreamdeck, if they are new to VR and aren't completely bowled over by the Street scene and the T-Rex scene then there is really no point in showing them anything else :p

Sightline - The Chair is another pretty amazing demo that nobody has mentioned. You have to download some files and install them to make it work, but, it's well worth it. It's a bit longer than some of the other Demo's but it has lots of different scenes and the last scene on the plank on top of half constructed building will scare the crap out of them :D
