Aside from steam what software or resources should i be aware of to get the max benefit of owning a vive?

i hear you can play dx11 games using some software with mixed results too.

Software you're thinking of is Vorpx. It is hit and miss yea.

Viveport is ok but I don't know why they didn't make it available from release. Most people will have their stuff through Steam mostly by now.

are there any good hacks for the vive ? i.e firmware etc.. to improve performance or whathave you?

There is a Super sampling tweak but a lot of game developers are including the option to change this in their own settings. A lot of people report much better clarity, sharpness but it is pretty taxing on hardware.

There are also one or two physical tweaks that people do. One being modifying the cushion that pushes against your face. If you make it thinner, you get a better fov from being closer to the screen.

Honestly, you're going to get a lot more information from google rather than here. VR still isnt big enough to have a massive following here on OCUK and you might be waiting for days for stuff you can find via a search engine.

Its a bit worrying that you're asking these sorts of questions after you've bought one tbh.
