VRAM likely to be an issue?

Will the amount of VRAM you have on your card be a major issue if i was to game at 1920x1080. Ive been looking through various 560gtx ti models and have landed on two but not sure whether to go for a 2GB version or 1GB version.

Some people say to go 2GB but others say 1GB will be fine and games wont increase the amount of VRAM they would use for quite a while yet but i would like some element of "future-proofing" in a new card so im stuck :(

At 1080p some games are using well over 1Gb. Without checking I'm not sure on price, but I'd go for the 2gb version if budget allows.

I would advise going for the 2gb model if you can afford it for the exact reasons you said. In a year or so, games will use even more vram than they do now so it will hold you in good stead in the future.

I had the same problem a few months back, wanted a 5870 but didnt want a 1gb card so i held out for a 2gb 6870 and I'm glad I did. I had no intension of upgrading the card for at least two years so i needed it to have loads of vram as future proof.

Good good it was pretty much what i was hoping the answer would be because surely having scope to run games that need 2GB VRAM for only £30 more can't be too bad a thing. Also i heard that some games like GTA IV were using a lot of it already.

BF3, Crysis 2, DA II, Shogun 2, Metro 2033(probably the new Metro), Rage with cfg hack, Witcher 2, can all use more than 1Gb.

All the games are scalable to suit whatever vram is available of course and ultimately will work.

If you don't upgrade often then it's highly advisable to get as much vram as possible.

Ok thought id post it here to not waste space everywhere else but if im looking at building a £1200 pc including a monitor (and VAT) should i be looking 2GB 560 gtx ti or spending more as in 570/580 (and still at 2gb vram?)

Cheers for the spec but i had most of the other bits that i wanted to buy im just undecided on the motherboard and Graphics card, here's what i had so far:

Get the mobo and gfx card i suggested then ;)

Also, a better PSU wouldn't hurt. it'll save you in the long term. The silverstone raven is really good for air cooling

Is there no real benefits of going to a 570/580 for the resolution that im playing at??

because although it would go over my budget im more concerned about future-proofing and waiting a couple more weeks to buy.

VRAm wise, 2gb is EASILY enough for 1080p

The 570/80 will be better, but the extra VRAM won't help at all.

I'd personally spend it on a better case and PSU as they're really important for futureproofing.

oh ok then, i did read pretty good reviews about that case though. Said it outperforms the corsair 600t on cooling which was the other higher priced case i was looking at

the raven?

Yep, it's amazing for air. However, if you have any plans to go for liquid, hen it's pretty crap ;)

sorry to op but

i meant the r3 fractal design one but if you're saying thats got great scope for future watercooling ill definitely go for that one because thats something i will do in the future :)
