Wondering how the above voltages effect an oc on a haswell setup. Ive heard that you can set a higher vrin, (aka input voltage) and use less vcore? Ive had my chip in sig at 4.5ghz on 1.2625 vcore, input voltage at 1.9v. But still got bsods with error 0x124 in games, normally this is vcore related, but can be attributed to overclocking ram which i was doing too. Samsung green at 9-10-10-21, 1T. Im now on a new ram kit, (tg vulcan @ 10-11-11-31-2T) xmp profile. Cpu is still at stock, but id like to get a bit more from it as it's holding my gpu's back a bit in games.

Changing vrin on my board didn't allow me to lower vcore. I have vrin set to 1.9v with vcore at 1.285v for 4.5ghz. Sammy greens running at 2133mhz 9-10-10-21 1T @1.5v with most of the seconds and some third timings also tightened. Played with vrin when trying to pass 4.8Ghz but it made no difference to vcore. CPU cache is also at 4.5ghz with 1.3v cache voltage. I have given up trying for anything higher now.

I can't see how increasing vrin would allow lower vcore? The core needs x amount of voltage to run at a given multi. Vrin is the supply. You could supply 10v and the core would still need x vcore to run. If this is wrong i'm all ears for some educating!

yeah vrin does not help lowering vcore well certainly not in my testing, the settings i'm using 1.36vcore, uncore at 4.5ghz vring 1.32v, VRIN @ 1.99v extreme llc, sa 0.2v, i/o agent 0.2v, io digital 0.2v
