VRM Loop Help

Hi,

What is the optimal way for me to include my VRM’s into the loop, I’m not even sure if it’s worth it tbh, but it seems like a wasted opportunity. Would lower VRM temps mean lower CPU temps or vice-versa?

The temps of the motherboard, PCH and VRM don’t go past 60c while gaming.

In theory, there is a relation, cooler VRM temps means its more efficient + slightly less heat being dumped into the surrounding area. In reality not so much in your case. Reason being looking at the pictures I can see ASUS ROG Maximus XII on heat shield and the built in VRM block suggests its the Formula. So z490 board. The reality is the board is really well specked in the VRM department so heat is already spread very nicely that its not a limitation even with CPUs overclocked in most cases. As you can see from your own day to day numbers 60 degrees for your typical use is pretty trivial and well within limits.

Now if you want to add it into the loop for aesthetic reason, for sake of it go hardline etc then do as you will, sky's the limit with custom loops

SO TLDR, your VRM temps are very nice. I would not worry. Add it into the loop for fun, aesthetics etc, not out of a requirement.

The easiest way would be to add a monoblock that cools the cpu and vrm's but you sacrifice some cpu cooling with that type of block. In your case though I don't think it's worthwhile. You have all those exhaust fans above and behind your vrm heatsinks and they will be keeping the temps down.

I have the Formula IX and haven't plumbed in the VRM block. I researched it and couldn't find any evidence that it would do more than a few degrees on the cooling of the VRM and therefore no measurable benefit. If you are on the very edge of stability, it might make a difference but otherwise not worth it IMO.

Remember also that by adding the VRMs to the loop you'll be dropping some extra heat into the water. So actually your CPU and GPU temps may well go up a little. At no real benefit in terms of VRM/overclocking performance.

I have the maximus xii formula with ek water block on cpu and the ek vrm cooler they work well together.
