VST Plugin (strings)?

No recommendations specifically but for good strings I'd recommend getting a powerful multisampler with some professional sample packs. I personally use EXS24 with Logic with a good sample pack.
I guess it also depends on what you're after - orchestral, dramatic or some simple synth strings... There are a lot of synths out there that'll give you a nice warm synth string sound with a bit of tweaking.
