Vsync and 144Hz Question

Hi all. Possibly a bumb question.

Looking at 144hz Monitors and am a bit confused with how vsync works at this hz or if its really necessary.

What if i cant reach 144fps on my 1080? Do 144hz monitors suffer from tearing?

Any recomendations for a 144Hz monitor.

If you never pass 144HZ you need not worry about tearing and if you do enable Fast Sync or use DSR to run a higher RES.

144hz monitors can suffer from tearing, but it's less noticeable as each frame is shown for less time.

It has little to do with that, Screen Tearing can/does happen when your FPS exceed your HZ (refresh Rate) of your screen unless you know this and mean if he does exceed his 144 FPS.
