I think because I've always until the last couple of years, had quite a rubbish PC.. I mean sure it could play most games at the time that I had it but never on full graphics and a lot of the time shadows gave it an issue.. I've always had vsync off.

Now that my PC is a little more competent I've been trying games with vsync on.. but I don't actually like it, it almost feels like mouse smoothing is on.. you know where theres a little delay before it stops.. though it doesn't feel as obvious as mouse smoothing, so I have to go back to vsync being off but the problem with that is, I can often see the tearing though with that the game feels much more responsive.

Is it just me.. have I just played games with it off for so long or is there a fix for this?

Im not quite sure that a 120hz monitor would fix the problem.. cant the human eye only see around 60fps and anymore isn't noticeable.. I'd be happy to try it but I dont need a new monitor just yet :P

Rainagul.. lemme try and explain, in an FPS when you aim/turn around and then stop aiming/turning that there is almost a fraction where it feels like its still moving, I guess catching up to where you are. Where as with vsync off.. when you stop, it stops that instant with no delay.

Mouse smoothing is almost 10x as bad as vsync for me, almost feels like when you run along some ice in a game and you stop pressing forward but you continue to move. Obviously thats an over exaggeration as you probably dont go that far but it just doesn't feel as responsive. As a result.. mouse smoothing always has to be off or I go into an ALL CAPS RAGE.

I think its a responsiveness issue that I've noticed.. and I've noticed it on any PC I've played on that it has to be set to off.

It never used to bother me when I had a PC that sucked but now its different I wanna see games in all their glory!

So tearing is starting to get to me but I feel incompetent with vsync off and from being very competitive in 1.6 I get raged with myself when I clearly could have made certain shots haha.

Glad its not just me then.. is there anyway to get the responsiveness of it being off, with it being on so it looks more fluent or am I shafted?

I haven't looked it up but I'd hazard a guess that d3doverrider would be detected as a hook/hack and possibly get you VAC/Punkbuster banned and such?

I think I may just have to suck it up and stick with it off.

Vtec9k I feel like I just ruined your life man.. sorry :(
