VTS, filter or worth going induction kit

You've still got the tiny little air intake bolted onto the front slam panel, with the black flexi duct on it. I'd ditch that too - It won't be making a jot of difference.

dont mean to **** on your bonfire , but changing the Air filter alone on your saxo isnt going to make any difference worth talking about.

When the K&N gen 2 kit was developed for the Saxo VTS it was done on one of the club members own cars, I remember him posting the RRs etc and it was a 10bhp increase, there were several tests done. This is 4 years ago though so the chance of finding a link etc is impossible.

Cheers. I've always been a little suspicious of some of the claims for induction kits of NA cars, because I suspect that in most cases the induction is not a serious limitation. I rather think that gains are "up to 10%" in the same way that shops sales have reductions of "up to 30% off". That is, one person once got 10bhp, but you will get 3.

Lots of good 'banta' at the link below about the 'ram air effect'

quoted eg. with a 200hp car:

14.65 HP for return to 1bar at manifold by increased cfm
+ 2.5 HP for 0.176psi increase in MAP
+3HP increase for cooled charge =

20.15hp increase !
for the cost of a length of duct and some gaffer tape...

Myabe its all cobblers & a wind tunnel is required so you know when you pass the point of the extra drag outstripping the benefits of scooping more air into the engine.

Hmm, is the power bulge/air intakes on a scooby just for show?
