VTX 280x problem

Hi

I have some VTX 280x cards for mining, already the second card showed this kind of behaviour. I don't know what happened to the first one, i think it was the one the eventually broke and I RMA'd it.

Windows starts normally, I start miner, card heats up to 90C then black screen. By the time it crashes the cooler is not even 100%, only 60% or so, and 90C is not much for this card, it maxes out at 95C. What can be the problem?

I just made system restore, without it the card crashed even at lower temps(i believe).

I changed thermal paste on one other card(before) to arctic silver 5, it didn't improve temperatures, so I can assume the thermal paste in these cards is pretty good.

Does changing thermal paste void manufacturers warranty? Because I could try that again.

Ok here what I also noticed. This happened to my other mining rig and now to this one. Yesterday it was happily running the 280x's quietly with 2500rpm fans and normal temps(90-91C). Now one of the 2 cards in this rig, that still works is at 95C and the fan is almost always on 100%!! Why? There's no dust in the card and nothing at all has changed. And that is when 1 card is removed, and the remaining one gets plenty of cooling air.

Configuration of the rigs:
Intel celeron dual core
Gigabyte b75m-d3h
4gig ram
750w coolermaster gx bronze PSU

The thing is, about 6 weeks ago when I started using those rigs, they both ran reasonably quiet. Then after some weeks one rig had problems and started running loud and hot since. Just today the second rig got the problem, and the remaining card in it runs loud and hot. Can PSU be at fault?

Just changed thermal compound on both cards, the one that was giving black screen and the one that was running hot. Old thermal paste was not looking very good, some of it liquid, some of it rather hard. I think it deteriorated after constant +90C.

So, it fixed the trouble for now. Everything works, temps fell and the fans are running a lot slower.
